KUTZTOWN--Ilia Lopez hit an RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning to give Lock Haven a 1-0 win over Bloomsburg University Saturday afternoon in a winner's bracket game at the NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic Regional championships.
The game was a pitchers' duel between Lock Haven's Kristin Erb and Bloomsburg's Ashley Lynn (Riverside/Danville).Erb scattered eight hits, while Lynn allowed 10.
Both pitchers wiggled their way out of jams in the extra innings before LHU finally broke the deadlock in the 10th.
Lock Haven loaded the bases with one out in the eighth inning. Lynn struck out Lopez for the second out and then got Sarah Norris to fly out to center.
Bloomsburg got runners on second and third with one out in the 10th when Kayleen Sidisky (Bellefonte/Bellefonte) grounded to the pitcher, holding the runners. Jess Rosin (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison) walked to load the bases. Erb then struck out Missy Bachert (Coplay/Parkland) to end the inning.
In the Lock Haven part of the 10th, Erb and Devin Glezen hit back-to-back singles. With two outs, Lopez singled up the middle. Erb rounded third and collided with Bloomsburg catcher Tiff Corliss (Lewisburg/Mifflinburg) as the ball reached the plate and Corliss couldn't hold on. Erb touched home plate for the winning run. Bloomsburg did protest the play, due to the collision, but the ruling on the field was upheld.
Erb (35-2) struck out 11 in 10 innings. Lynn (22-6) pitched 9.2 innings and struck out 11.
For the Lady Eagles, Erb went 3-for-4, while Glezen and Lopez were both 2-for-5. Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport) was 3-for-5 for the Huskies. Alyssa English (Wallacetown/Phillipsburg-Osceola) went 2-for-4. Missy Bachert was 0-for-3.

Lock Haven (48-3) advances to the championship game on Sunday at 2:30 against the winner of the noon game. The Huskies need to beat the East Stroudsburg/Edinboro winner and Lock Haven twice, to win the title and advance to the NCAA championship round.
